Hummm, how do you distress a lamp base? ...

Hummmm, how do you distress a freshly painted lamp base?  I read that you have to rub away at where natural wear and tear would occur … still, hummmm??? Whilst I was mid distress a friend called around with a very welcome pack of posh mince to perk the poorly Bert dog up.  When I asked for tips on distressing her advice was “just tell it it’s fat, that should work”!  Also, factor in my need for perfection and I really had my work cut out.

This is my first attempt …
Now, there is a fine line between distressed and just looking tatty and I clearly crossed it!  On to the second attempt ...
Much better.

I'm still not sure if I prefer the pristine or 'worn' look but it's starting to grow on me.

When is a bargain not a bargain? …

I couldn't believe my luck when I found three lovely cushion covers being sold for £1.00 each in a local interiors shop, they were swiped up and purchased within the blink of an eye.  As soon as I got home I turfed off existing cushion covers to adorn the pads with new delights only to find the new covers were a non standard size – damn!  This lead to a wild goose chase trying to find non-standard sized cushion pads, I can confirm these do not exist in West Oxfordshire.  There was nothing for it but to make new pads, a project that didn't fill me with glee I have to say.  I bought some cheap pillows and this afternoon set about making the right sized inserts.  It was surprising really quick and easy and the exciting part came when I was able to insert the correct sized cushion in to the new covers.  Finally, the bargain purchase came good.

Bondawebing myself happy …

Today I discovered Bondaweb, wow, fabric has never been so interesting.
  Oh the possibilities!
Itching to experiment I attached my friends daughters initials in fabric on to her top and then finished with a running stitch.
I’m now obsessed with what to bondaweb on to next, watch this space...
Tops crying out for Bondaweb
C for the lovely Charlotte
All finished :)

A hand print wreath...

After taking the Christmas decorations down the house is looking way too bare so we have had 'family creative time' and the fruits of our labour is ....
A hand print wreath.

We drew around our hands on to wallpaper off cuts, cut them out, stuck one on top of the other, added the all important ribbon
= a unique family wreath.

Ooops .. just couldn't resist;)
